DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM ChST...the center of Typhoon Champi was located near
Latitude 23.4 degrees North and Longitude 139.5 degrees East...moving north-northeast at 9 mph. Champi is expected to maintain this general
northward course and forward speed the next day or so before
accelerating as it recurves east of Japan early next week.

Maximum sustained winds are still 75 mph. Champi is forecast to
intensify today before a gradual weakening trend ensues.

Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 25 miles.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 100
miles.
