anything about anti-vax) we had a 5km (3 miles) limit from our home meaning we can only travel that far to go to the shops or exercise, you
I don't know how cities over lets say 20k people are laid out , I cant imagine its much different there here in the US. But where I live the population is like 22k , just big enough to called a city . the nearest major store is 7 miles away.
I was thinking the same thing. It may be a US thing. The city I live in
is not particularly large, but it is big enough to have its own Lowes,
Walmart, and chain grocery stores (4 total, I think). However, a river
runs right through the middle of town, splitting the area into "East" and "West." For the most part, all of the stores have gravitated to three
areas... one on each side of town by the interstate, and one extra area on
the East side.
I *think* a grocery store is within a 3-mile limit (although it may take
more than 3 miles to *drive* there, one way). The other grocery on this
side of town would be just outside that limit, I think, and most of the
other stores within the limit sell cars, boots, designer clothes, gas and
junk food, and fast food. Oh, yeah, and hardware. Cracker Barrel might be within the limit. :)
Lowes and Walmart would not be within my radius because they are on the opposite side of town. If I lived on the North side, nothing would be in
my radius as everything on that fringe has long closed or moved away. I
think there is still a dollar store, a furnature store, and a liquor store,
but nothing else.
If you live very far out of town in any direction, you would be out of luck. Gas station junk food would be your only option.
There are places in downtown Louisville that are probably > 3 miles from
any grocery stores.
... How do you tell when you're out of invisible ink?
