It seems to be the popular thing around BBSing to be condesending and negative.

It doesn't seem to just be BBSing. I've kind of stepped back from almost all social media. I found myself just mindlessly scrolling through Reddit not even really reading anything, just... mindlessly scrolling.

Any threads I actually try to drive in (whether on Facebook, Reddit, etc), you have to sift through a whole bunch of crap to find the odd gem. It really is a shame that no matter where you go (BBSing included) there's always going to be trolls.

I haven't deleted any of my accounts, just signed out of all of them and deleted the apps off of my phone. If I want a quick fix (or need to check on someone/something) I'll use the mobile web version or use my laptop.

Not saying I'll never re-install the apps, but just something I'm doing for now until I have more energy/bandwidth.

I've been at the point the last few weeks, where I'm considering just turning everything off and washing my hands of it all.

I've also turned off scanning for new on all but a few echos, the ones where there's activity and a good group. That combined with a twit filter to, well, filter out the twits, helps keep me from going bananas or "taking the bait".

Fortunately, fsxNet is around, seems to be the most positive net around that I've seen, but I think the positive influence and moderation is helpful.

Thanks for those kind comments and feedback. While I try to jump in to some threads and/when I think I need to, there are equally a good group of guys who can also chip in with a gentle reminder when needed about trying to stick to the networks values... so I think of moderation in fsxNet as more of a team thing.

Sometimes I need to say whoa nelly but really we're all human and if we keep in mind that echomail can be easily misread with extra unintended emotion added in to what is read by the recipient, and/or the fact that none of us has any real idea of what pressures and other real life stuff someone who posts something antsy is under when they type stuff etc. etc.

All of which is to say, we're all doing our best to keep it a good space for the most part... so thanks guys :)

There's definitely some nets that are tempting to run screaming away
    from. ;-)

I'm honestly busy enough with this one and don't hop around too much but I'm sure there are others chatting in othernets that try to do their best to keep it civil and fun... and yeah, if it's just a bun fight you're reading in an echo you can always opt for the diet approach and just leave it alone :)

I dropped off for awhile, but it's great to see familiar names like yours around, btw.

Nice to see you here too.
