Fidonet is mostly a dead-end, innovation-wise. Your apparent skillset and talents are likely better spent introducing new technologies in Othernets where the level of participation and enthusiasm by others is more shared and welcome. In some regions like Russia, Fido is extremely popular but

    It's welcome here..

I am happy to discuss this via Netmail or email, out of respect for Avon
I don't really want to carry on Fido-related nonsense here.

I'm happy to see things discussed, it's not like we're degenerating into a
Fido or personality bashing thread as it can some times (sadly) go in Fido.

But for what it's worth I am enjoying reading this thread and the open and honest stuff being covered. I agree a lot of what folks define as progress
(or not) is framed by how much people view the need (or not) to stick with current accepted (dated?) ideas and ways of doing stuff.

Personally I'm all for trying new things and ideas, I just wish I had more coding/dev chops to do so myself, but at the very least I can support others and seek to create spaces where stuff like this is discussed and/or
    championed.

In the end it's up to individuals to decide to trial, test, embrace or reject new things. Luckily for all of us there's a rich history of such endeavors spanning the last 40+ years and we're all the better for it I think (glass is half full mode = on). And I also have to say Fidonet for all its ups and downs has been such a significant contributor to that, one which I am very
    grateful and appreciative of.

    Best, Paul
