mutil has the ability to import filebone.na files to create file bases. And filefix allows for subscribing/unsubscribing file bones.. Similarly areafix allows the same for message bases, and provides rescan to pull in historical messages... is there any sort of tool to request/fetch historical files for these filebone areas? Or is it really just _new_ files that will ever
    populate those areas?

Only new files in file areas that are turned on. Other options would be to
FTP anything if the system supports it and you have proper access and time to retrieve massive amounts of files.

At this point no you can't request specific files or file masks... I just
need to get better at setting up periodic hatching of files using the hatch files stanza.. something I need to make some time now that I do have that function to call on in MUTIL.

    Best, Paul

I do not allow rescans of filebone bases, because people will send a FileFix that does:

    %ALL
    %RESCAN

The result of that is that it will try to copy every single file in your
file bases to their filebox and then clog up your network by sending to them.

We have been (slowly) adding in some tools to allow us to better manage how much data is sent and by which method though, so maybe when that has been expanded upon this is worth revising.

I'm always open to hearing suggestions on how people think it should/could
    work though.
