So someone else was posting about this on the Mystic BBS page on Facebook the other day. Seems you can't download any files if you're using a CD-ROM. I'm going to assume whether physical or emulated, doesn't matter (in my case and
    I think his, they're emulated).

Not sure what's going on. He thinks it might be the read-only status, I'm thinking it might be that, and that it's not copying over the files for download for Slow Media. Not sure, just guessing.

I posted something to you last week about this, but I'm not sure if you saw
    it.

Another Mystic sysop was having issues with being able to download files off either an emulated CD or a physical copy with Mystic. It lists the files, is able to read the file_id.diz in them, but won't let you download them with
any protocol. I confirmed the same thing.

Not sure about him, but I tried it with both "Slow media" enabled and
    disabled. No difference.

I did see it but I didn't respond because I don't have a CD drive to test on. At a programming level the way Mystic accesses any file is the same, regardless of what it is stored on. The operating system handles that - everything is just a drive, directory, or file to Mystic... There is no special code.

My plan is to try to get an old laptop with a CD drive this weekend to test it.

The slow media flag tells Mystic to copy the file to node's temporary directory before sending it, so it can read the file quickly. Back in the day BBSes had multiple callers online and a 1-2X CD drive which could not keep up with Zmodem, especially if multiple people were trying to download from a CD drive at the same time.

I get the same behavior from a mounted iso image. I think it has something to do with the read only permissions. When I copy the files from the CD or iso
to the hard drive, the issue goes away.

What do you use to mount with? I'll try to make sure I am testing with the exact same software.

I figured, but I'm using Virtual CloneDrive, so mine's not a physical drive either. The other sysop that was trying this before me used both a physical
and emulated after, I believe. Neither worked for him.

Figured that too when I saw the prompt that said, "Copying files to temporary directory" before the download =)

Either flagging a file(s) for batch download, or even manually typing a file name results in the same thing; the download initiates, Netrunner flashes the download screen for about 1/4 of a second, then dumps back to the file menu.

I use WinCDemu on an XP machine. It's a free download.
