It comes as UK deaths from the virus are expected to pass 10,000 on Sunday.

On Saturday, the UK recorded 917 new coronavirus deaths, taking total hospital deaths to 9,875.

Ministers are continuing to urge people to stay at home over the Easter weekend to curb the spread of the virus, despite warm and sunny weather across parts of the UK.

In his first public statement since being moved out of intensive care on Thursday, Mr Johnson paid tribute to the medics treating him, saying: "I can't thank them enough. I owe them my life."

Speaking as she led the government's daily coronavirus briefing on
Saturday, Home Secretary Priti Patel said the PM needed "time and space to rest, recuperate and recover".

BBC political correspondent Ben Wright said that "No 10 does not want to speculate about when the PM might leave hospital or be back at his desk,
but a return to work does not look imminent."

"The prime minister is expected to rest and recover in the coming weeks
and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will continue to deputise - and will be
in charge when ministers carry out a review of the lockdown measures."

    ### - i guess we'll see just how much he thanks them later innit, those frontline nurses & peeps literally giving their 'lives' in many instances
to look after others? good people working long-long hours on shite wages
that leaves them very little left over to do anything other than just more frontline slog...

their 'excuse' for nursing being a 'traditionally' low paid profession
being that (wait for it lol) they didn't wanna pay nurses any more in case
it attracted the wrong 'types' of people to the service??

did ya ever hear such shit for ffs? lower pay while they're training for 3
or 4 years would cover that, but once they're fully qualified they should
be paid the earth for the very difficult work they do! especially now!

they 'actively' save people's lives! how much is THAT worth exactly eh
    boris?

how much was 'your' fat ass worth to save!

(he prolly gets more as an expense account than nurses do for a year's salary!)

i just hope he shapes up and gets with it :)

    ### - well he certainly 'looks' like a different man after recovering
(looks fucked haha) plus is also making all the right noises re his raised 'appreciation-level' for the frontline troops risking their own lives etc,
but whether or not this results in a ramping-up of better funding for the national health service generally remains to be seen?

one can only live in hope huh :)
